چکیده

Exploring the oceans for bioactive compounds is an incessant human desire. The present study investigates selected bioactivities; anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, cytotoxic, and genotoxic potential of Axinella sp. marine sponge crude extract (SCE). Sponge identification was based on morphology skeletal analysis. SCE prepared by methanol/dichloromethane extraction tested zoo-chemicals, anti-inflammatory properties protein denaturation, heat hypertonicity-induced bovine erythrocyte membrane stability assays. Radical scavenging activity against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazil (DPPH), 2,2′-Azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), nitric oxide (NO), peroxide radicals. IC50 calculated each assay. Cytotoxicity genotoxicity were Artemia salina Allium cepa models, respectively. LC50 mitotic index (MI) where appropriate, while chromosomal aberrations recorded in A. results indicated presence alkaloids, terpenoids, unsaturated sterols, flavonoids, saponins SCE. Potent inhibitory activities egg albumin denaturation reported (IC50=39.55±3.21 μg/ml). Heat hypertonicity induced as IC50=44.64±0.56 μg/ml IC50=35.7±.0.26 μg/ml, In comparison to reference drugs, resulting strong NO (IC50=50.63±2.85 μg/ml) more or less similar DPPH (IC50=42.49±0.85 However, potency ABTS radical low (IC50=42.49±0.74 IC50=323.52±3.71 respectively). toxic nauplii (LC50=106.81 root cells (LC50=114.63 with a 7.2% potent effects proposes its feasibility drug lead, followed further comprehensive research.

Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Oxidant Potential of the Root Extract and Constituents of Doronicum austriacum.

BACKGROUND Doronicum austriacum Jacq., Asteraceae, is a plant which is used in traditional alpine medicine. Historical sources describe the medical use of the root, but up until now only a few studies evaluated its pharmacological properties. The evaluation of the dichloromethane extract, and its major compounds for their anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant potential was performed in macrophages...

Anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory cyclic diarylheptanoids from Alnus japonica stem bark

A new cyclic diarylheptanoid namely alnuheptanoid B (3), along with four known cyclic diarylheptanoids: myricanone (1), (+)-S-myricanol (2), myricanone 5-O--D-glucopyranoside (4), and (+)-S-myricanol 5-O--D-glucopyranoside (5) were isolated from the EtOAc fraction of Alnus japonica Steud (family: Betulaceae) stem bark. Their structures were established by different spectroscopic analyses, as ...

Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties: Is there a link?

BACKGROUND It is believed that the anti-inflammatory activity of medicines is closely related to their antioxidant activity. However, in clinical practice rigorous evidence-based medicine approach fails to reveal important effects of antioxidants on patient important outcomes in inflammatory disorders, as has been shown by a number of Cochrane reviews [1-3]. OBJECTIVE To evaluate anti-inflamm...
